With characters ranging from the most powerful woman in television to a 92 year-old Hollywood domestic to a seven-and-a-half year old addicted to sugar, and a lot of others along the way, Downloaded-and in denial lays bare the lunacy of modern American life in a zany romp through dysfunction, spin-doctoring and socio-political fads. Among the off-the wall ideas: a virtual, “more human” TV anchorperson, advice to elevator people and postal persons on how to “spin” their way out of legal trouble, the ‘barbie-fication” of the world and global marketing of modified cockroach genes. The show’s satire is colored by its author’s perspective on the world as a committed environmental activist, having worked closely with Robert Kennedy Jr., The Riverkeeper, and serving as co-chair of the Environment Committee for the Creative Coalition. |
Cynthia Adler: One of the top voice-over actresses in America, she has been heard in cartoons, narrations, commercials (Revlon, Mercedes Benz, Estee Lauder) and foreign movies. She has dubbed leading roles in films such as Lina Wertmueller’s Swept Away and Seven Beauties and Bernardo Bertolucci’s 1900, and she was the voice of Catherine Deneuve in Le Metro. Adler is one of the top narrators of documentaries and promos for HBO, Lifetime, Court TV, PBS, and has been the voice of many Hanna Barbera cartoon characters and most of the female characters in the animated feature “Fantastic Planet.” Trained by Jim Henson and Frank OZ, she created many voices and characters for The Muppet Show. Robert Kalfin: Founder of
New York's award-winning Chelsea Theater Center, Mr. Kalfin has directed
plays on Broadway, off-Broadway, on television, in American and Canadian
regional theaters, in Europe, the Middle East and as far abroad as Siberia.
Under his artistic leadership, such Chelsea productions as SLAVESHIP,
SAVED, AC/DC, Genet's THE SCREENS, Allen Ginsburg's KADDISH, THE BEGGARS'
OPERA, POLLY, VANITIES, and THE CONTRACTOR introduced major new works
to theater audiences. The book, "Chelsea on the Edge" by Davi
Napolean details Mr. Kalfin's contribution to the American theater scene.
