The Bad Astronauts are a saucy East Village sketch comedy trio. Hannah Cabell, Simone Perrin and Greg Pierce met through an improv group at Oberlin College, then headed east and performed THE BAD ASTRONAUT SHOW at The Duplex in Fall ’00, followed by CUT ME SOME SLACKS at The Present Company and PHALLAXY QUEST and THE ADVENTURES OF LOVER-TRON at The Red Room. They became resident Artists at Horse Trade Theater Group after their appearance in the 2002 HA! Comedy FEST. This past January, they performed THE BADDEST OF THE BAD ASTRONAUTS in The HA! Comedy FEST. This May they’re back in The Red Room with an all-new show, THE SUBURBANOIDS.

THE SUBURBANOIDS

Zygorn the space tyrant turns the Bertleson’s world upside down when he forces them to be his soul-sucking henchmen. Jacky Bertleson, the teen son with dreams of hip-hop stardom, is their only hope against this other-worldly villain. Jacky and his tennis-champ girlfriend, Briana, must find a way to stop Zygorn before Fondue Friday, when he plans to transform the whole neighborhood into his army of Suburbanoids.

As the Bertlesons peer-pressure their neighbors into drinking the soul-sucking Fluid 77 (which looks suspiciously like lime-aid), you’ll meet the strange inhabitants of Meadowmoonriver Hills:

Chiffon, the accordion playing film noir actress who finds all kinds of things to do while her husband’s away.

an irresponsible mermaid who runs a daycare center for hyperactive children.

a couple of lonely communist lesbian cowgirls who run into some troubles when they publicize their support group.

PLUS plenty of weird potions, catchy space tunes and personified garden hoses, in this SciFi-in-the-suburbs adventure, so don’t miss it!

“…Relentlessly clever…Excellent rhymes and dance moves…Successful…
One of the highlights of the HA! Comedy FEST…inspired comedy…”
