With The Show, Edge of Insanity continues its aesthetic tradition of merging popular culture, political discourse and human frailty to create a fiercely original new theatrical experience. Following 2002's much-praised premiers of Galaxy Video and The Lounge, writer/director Marc Morales & company again tune into our lives and times to bring to you a new production melding together music, politics and theater in THE SHOW.

CONCEIVED shortly after a flawed presidential election
DEVELOPED in the aftermath of September 11th
REFINED as the Bush administration laid the groundwork to invade Iraq
PERFORMED amidst growing public protest of an ongoing military campaign

As "Operation Iraqi Freedom" rages on a half a world away, America once again puts our own problems on hold. As our brothers, sisters and friends fight for the rights of a people who have not asked for our help, those here at home are silenced by fear and intimidation . . quietly losing many of the rights for which others have been sent to fight and die for. The Show asks: Do you really think we're qualified to teach foreign nations about justice, democracy and elections when we've not yet mastered these sciences fine arts ourselves?

The SYNOPSIS:
Marty, the writer of Urban Circus, is arrested by government officials. He finds himself in a dark and empty cell; handcuffed and beaten, with a guard at each shoulder. While Marty is being interrogated, as the show rages on, somewhere downtown. The people interrogating Marty are neither entertained nor amused by Marty's work. “They” find his work anti-American and unsuitable for public consumption. “They” conclude that Marty must be silenced along with the performers in Urban Circus.

Welcome to Urban Circus, a variety show for the new millennium. Hosted by the colorful MC--the DJ. Sit back, relax and prepare to be entertained with sound and lights, song and dance, scene and sketch, at the Urban Circus.

*** Quotes from the text of The Show ***
"Sometimes one person's entertainment is another person's pain"

BETTY: "Do you worry about the world?
Do you worry about what's going to happen to civilization?
What are your views on Bush?"

ADAM: "Personally, I'm a boob man myself."

BETTY: "I meant George Bush."

ADAM: "Who's that? "

"It's not your job to think Marty. It's your job to speak. But only when asked."

". . .for something to be entertaining it doesn't always mean it's going to be rainbows and sunshine."
