To provide a home for independent theater artists by nurturing their development and helping to establish their artistic careers . To expose their work and promote it to local, national, and international audiences.

Horse Trade is a self-sustaining theater development group; with a focus on new work. It has produced a massive quantity of stimulating downtown theater. Horse Trade’s Resident Artist Program offers a home to a select group of Independent Theater artists, pooling together a great deal of talent and energy. It is also the home of FRIGID New York – the first and only festival of its kind in New York City.
Horse Trade has been producing shows in it's three venues in the East Village for over a decade and touring outside the city and the US since 2008.

Mr. Birch will be portraying all the characters in Shakespeare’s classic tragedy, including Polonius, Gertrude and the fair Ophelia. This is Hamlet for a modern audience. Our goal is to bring the classic to life in an accessible way without losing the beauty of the language that makes Shakespeare great. |
