Jason Courson

A native of South Georgia, Jason pursued a BFA in Theatre Performance/Productionfrom Valdosta State University, before heading to New York to earn his MFA in Scenic Design from the Conservatory of Theatre Arts and Film, division of Entertainment Design Technology, Purchase College, SUNY. Jason has been resident designer for such theatres as the MacHaydn Theatre in Chatham, NY, as well as the New London Barn Playhouse in New London, NH. He was the Design Assistant for the New York Grand Opera's 2001 Viva Verdi, season in Central Park (Aida, Othello, Falstaff). Regionally he has designed the scenery for such shows as La Cage Aux Folles, Fiddler on the Roof, 42nd Street and his thesis production, Don Giovanni. As costume designer Jason designed the Purchase Theatre Ensemble's production of The Laramie Project. Jason designed the sets and costumes for the premiere production of A Stoop on Orchard Street, which played for over 18 months at the Mazer Theater. Most recently Jason's scenic/projection designs could be seen in the NYMF Festival's PLANE CRAZY, earning him rave reviews. www.coursondesigns.com
