Two Gentlemen of Lebowski is an extraordinary new work from filmmaker/playwright Adam Bertocci which reimagines the cult classic motion picture as a Shakespearian farce, creating an amazing new work from the heightened language and surreal comic landscape of its inspirations.  Both immaculately crafted and riotously funny, this instant classic is brought to the New York stage by Horse Trade and the venerable DMTheatrics, one of the most imaginative and imitated of all downtown theater companies, and its founder, pop culture maven and acclaimed theatrical impresario Frank Cwiklik.  This show is also the inagural production of DMT’s new American Shakespeare Factory, an exciting new project intended to present all of the Bard’s works in eclectic and innovative new productions, and to present new works exploring the connection between the great classical texts and the demands of modern theater. 

When his beloved rug is micturated upon as a result of comically mistaken identity, layabout ruffian the Knave embarks on a journey of epic proportions, encountering manipulative aristocrats, seductive artists, murderous consorts, and the worst theater troupe in the world, all aided and abetted by his bombastic friend Sir Walter of Poland, against a backdrop of ninepins, taverns, and pipesmoking.

DMTHEATRICS was founded as Danse Macabre Theatrics in 1999 by producer/director Frank Cwiklik in New York City. DMTheatrics was launched with the express purpose of creating theater for audiences, not agents or academics, and for taking advantage of the immediacy and aggressiveness of live performance by creating immersive, emotionally engaging and spectacular theatrical pieces. By looking back to the classic forms of burlesque, vaudeville, cabaret, linear storytelling, and spectacle, DMT hopes to create new and exciting theater for the present and help usher in the future of performance with clean, direct, attractive works that excite, inspire, and most importantly, entertain.

The Cast and Crew

Brianna is a feminist and attempts to be an artist. She has a BFA in Drama from NYU's Tisch School of the Arts. Brianna is absolutely thrilled to be returning to the DMT fold, fresh from her showstealing turns in DMT's Taking Liberties and Grudge Match: Titus Andronicus, in which she played the cunning and wicked Tamora. Her other creative ventures, as well as a more complete list of credits, can be found on IMDB, to use the parlance of our times.

Bob Laine is a poet, playwright and actor. He is a member of the Inverse Theater Company and has
appeared in 20 of Kirk Bromley's original American verse plays including  Midnight Brainwash Revival, American Revolution, Icarus and Aria, Want’s Unwisht Work , On the Origin of Darwin, The Banger’s Flopera, Three Dollar Bill,  The Death of Griffin Hunter and Me the Musical. In addition, he performed in Bitch MacBeth in 2008 with DMT after having performed in Who In the Hell is the Real Live Lorilie Lee? in 2004, their OOBR winning Antony and Cleopatra in 2002 and Fugitive Girls in 2000. His most recent performance was as the Dandy Fop in the Richard Foreman play George Batille’s Bathrobe at the Brick theater. He has been performing his original work since 1991 in Chicago and New York. His own play What’s That Buzz? debuted in New York in 1999. He performed his latest play Cocaine Faggot at the PSNBC Performance Workshop at Here theater.

A graduate of Kenyon College with a B.A. in Drama and English, Stewart originally hails from the snowy wastes of Syracuse New York. He is a relative newcomer to the New York stage and feels incredibly honored to be part of this production. Yes, there are stairs in his house. Much love to his friends, family, and Sara.

Ed Lane (SAG/AFTRA) has been a New York actor for 10 years doing countless amounts of theater, film and television along the way. Currently he has a National Spot running for Cox Communication, two webisotics and two short films currently playing on the World Wide Web. Ed received his BFA and MFA training from Rutgers, Mason Gross School of the Arts under the tutelage of Maggie Flanigan and William Esper. Ed molds and instructs the futures of our nation’s young artists as the Associate Director of the New York Conservatory for Dramatic Arts and currently lives on the Upper West Side with his beautiful wife and daughter.

DM Theatrics: The Sinister Urge, Orgy of the Dead, Nevada Territory, Antony and Cleopatra, The Fugitive Girls, Bitch Macbeth; Other NY performances include Mad Forest (nominated for Best Ensemble, NY Innovative Theatre Awards), World Gone Wrong (Gemini CollisionWorks), Dangerous Liaisons (Wilde Mule Prod.). He co-created (and sometimes starred in and directed) the 12-part serialized play Penny Dreadful produced by the Brick Theater in Brooklyn from 2007-2009. As director: Darkling (Philadelphia premiere/Stefan Weisman, composer), Semmelweis (co-librettist/Raymond J. Lustig, composer), Stand Clear (director/co-writer w/ Bryan Enk), Entrenched - Episode 3 (James Comtois). He is the Producing Director of American Opera Projects, dedicated to the development and presentation of exclusively new opera works. BFA, North Carolina School of the Arts (Directing). Becky graduated from the University of the Arts in Philadelphia, PA with a B.F.A. in Jazz Dance Performance. Theater credits include Third Lows’ Penny Dreadful (Abigail Pierce), a cameo in The Welding Club’s 3800 Elizabeth, and the 2008 DMT production of Bitch Macbeth (Prime Asbury). She is also a proud member of Malleable Dance Theater. She has performed on the Disney Cruise Line, Pink Floyd’s The Wall (Alleyway Theater, Buffalo, NY), and various festivals/concerts throughout Philadelphia including performances at The Annenberg Theater, The Glue Festival, and The Equality Forum. She most recently choreographed 0109 for DMT and Willy Nilly in the 2009 Fringe Festival.

Devin Landin is usually annoyed when actors say they're "thrilled" to be in a show, but he's thrilled to be in Two Gentlemen... He attended SUNY Purchase until he started having nightmares that bricks were out to kill him, so he moved down the road and graduated from Manhattanville College. Since his graduation, he has appeared in a number of Off-Off-Broadway shows that you probably didn’t see unless you’re his mom. For his role as smut king Jacques Treehorn, he was able to draw upon his extensive experience producing hours upon hours of amateur pornography, a small portion of which even involved another person. Look for the release of The Best Laid Plans, the first feature film by the Landin Brothers, later this year.

This is Kevin's third go round at being an enabler to Frank and DMTheatrics. He was previously seen in The Sinister Urge! and the retrospective 0109. Favorite roles include "bikini cop", "undercover cross-dresser cop", and Sammy Davis Jr. Thank you to Mags, JS, the folks at Warner Brothers, and to Josh for believing in me again.

A Seattle native, Craig trained at The Neighborhood Playhouse School of The Theater. Since then, he received his SAG eligibility on the final season of ER. NYC credits include: Take Me Out (Heights Players), Titus Andronicus (The Brick), Arsenic and Old Lace (The Kraine), King O'Neil (Ensemble Theater Studio). Thanks to Florence Kelton, Gary Kingston.

Raised in the glorious state of New Jersey, Dan Phai graduated from New York University for Marketing and Entertainment Business. He has worked as an NBC page for shows like SNL, Conan, the Today Show, and an array of CNBC shows. He currently is enrolled in his last semester at the New York Conservatory for Dramatic Arts.

Shiloh Klein is an actress and dancer from southern Louisiana, and she is excited to make her debut with DMTheatrics! She is currently studying dance and voice in Manhattan while making her way into the film industry. She recently wrapped her first feature film as the lead in The Fabulous Thuderbird, and can currently be found working with band Phoenix Reign and crew on their Heavy Metal Underground series on Queens public access TV, as well as guest host on their Heavy Metal Sundays radio show on www.nexusproductionsradio.com. She is very excited to be back on stage, and wants to thank all of her family and friends that have supported her in making her dreams come true.

Kelly began dancing and performing at the age of 8 at Diggs School of Dance in Gloucester, VA. She then trained with Chamber Ballet in Williamsburg, VA. With Chamber Ballet she performed roles such as The Nutcracker in The Nutcracker; Six Friends in Coppelia; Jemima Puddleduck in Beatrix Potter; also The Secret Garden and Magic Flute. With Chamber Ballet, McCormack participated in two cultural exchange programs that took her to Heidelberg, Germany in 2004 and 2006. There, she performed with dancers from all over Europe. With her local theatre group, McCormack performed Cassie in A Chorus Line, Peasblossom in A Midsummer Nights Dream, and stage managed The Good Doctor. In 2004 Kelly McCormack founded In His Steps Worship Dance Ministries, a dance studio located in Williamsburg, New Kent, and Gloucester, Virginia. With In His Steps she has performed and produced over fifteen performances. From Spring 2008 through Winter 2009, McCormack performed at Busch Gardens Europe in shows such as Funky Physics, Monster Stomp, and Jack Is Back. Kelly McCormack has trained in over twelve different dance styles, by instructors from all around the world. She is very enthusiastic about her role in Two Gentlemen of Lebowski.

Melissa has danced with the Williamsburg Ballet Theatre and Piedmont Dance Theatre, and has performed at Busch Gardens, Williamsburg, and is currently pursuing a degree in Business from University of Phoenix.

Erin comes to NYC via Cleveland, Ohio, where she graduated with a BFA (Cum Laude) in Dance Performance from Kent State University in 2003. Before moving to NYC in 2008, she danced, choreographed, and taught for vaious theatre projects and dance companies in and around the Cleveland area, and for a brief period, studied and performed dance in New York with various choreographers including (the gorgeous and talented) Alexandra Beller in 2004. Since living in NYC, Erin has graced America's television screens doing background work, her favorite appearance thus far being in a music video for Mike Doughty, formerly of Soul Coughing, where she was paid in coffee and bagels. She made her film debut in a small indie feature last spring entitled Least Likely. Erin is super-psyched to be part of DMT's "Lebowski" in all its wacky glory.

With extensive training in classical ballet, modern, and theatre dance, Courtni Wilson received her BFA in ballet performance from the University of Oklahoma, where she was a member of the Oklahoma Festival Ballet.  During her tenure, she was awarded a scholarship to study at the Alvin Ailey American Dance Center, which led her to New York. She remained in NYC to live and work as a professional dancer and was quickly accepted into the Dance Theatre of Harlem to perform and tour with the company and ensemble. In addition, she has danced professionally with Alabama Ballet and Columbia City Ballet.  Recent projects include performances with New York Jazz Choreography Project; The Time Machine with Elojes Dance Theatre, Uptown Performance Series; The Midtown International Theater Festival presentation of They Walk Among Us; and  The Four with Prospect Theater Company. She has participated in numerous ballet and musical theatre showcases, teaching, choreographic and freelance opportunities.

Adam is a screenwriter and filmmaker working in and around New York. His films have played at festivals all across America, with stops in England, Canada and Australia, garnering numerous awards and nominations along the way. Achievements as a writer-director include the experimental romcom "Love: The Movie", the kitty-cat-cute romance "Pat Gets a Cat" and the Star Wars/NYC mashup "Brooklyn Force"; he also penned the family Christmas comedy "Wreck the Halls" starring Mickey Rooney. He works as a Final Cut Pro editor by day and shops his spec feature screenplays to Hollywood by night. His work can be seen at adambertocci.com.

Frank Cwiklik has been pumping out loud, excessive, almost entirely pointless theater in various NYC venues for over a decade, despite the pleas and entreaties of audiences and critics, and in defiance of several court orders and Federal regulations. With his needlessly gargantuan theater company, the roundly despised DMTheatrics, he has produced and/or directed over two dozen shows since 1999, and has worked as an actor and designer for dozens of shows for other defenseless entities in that time. 
His best-known works include the influential S&M futuristic fantasia Bitch Macbeth (whose recent third appearance at Williamsburg’s Brick theater smashed box office records and earned a 4-star review in Time Out New York); the controversial political satire Sugarbaby! (published in the 2004 NYTE Plays and Playwrights Collection); the smash-hit Vegas version of Antony and Cleopatra (winner 2003 OOBR Award for Outstanding Production); an infamous series of Ed Wood adaptations which played to sellout crowds at the legendary Todo Con Nada, as well as the Red Room and the St. Marks Studio Theater; and countless more. His immersive, eccentric, aggressive directorial style has earned him praise from the Village Voice, the New York Times, Time Out New York, NYTheatre.com, Backstage, and Stage Press Weekly, and has influenced many directors working both on and off Broadway. 
Cwiklik's DMTheatrics Laboratories are busily constructing the next phase of his ongoing assault on delicate sensibilities, including further installments of the Badass Record Collection; Gruge Match entries Taming of the Shrew, Love's Labours Lost and Hot Midsummer Nights; an adaptation of the noir classic Scarlet Street; and several originals, including the superhero elegy No Time For Heroes and God's Comic, a fantasia based on the work of silent comedy great Harry Langdon.
