Berliner’s Otto and Astrid Rot are back for another North American tour to celebrate the release of their acclaimed Super Musikant CD - a ten-track high-energy feast of rock, studded with rich veins of roll. The Teutonic twosome are hungry to back up the hype by ripping through a brace of their sparkling pop-punk anthems live. Fuelling the band’s intrigue were Astrid’s off-stage antics. Most famously coming to blows with Courtney Love in a New York club and later that night being arrested for DUI. Despite Astrid’s stay in rehab at the beginning of 2008, Die Roten Punkte had a stunningly successful North American tour. The Gazette Montreal describes them as a “sonic collision between Plastic Bertrand, Kraftwerk and early Ramones” and they have quickly gained widespread acclaim for being a “must-see act”. Otto’s reputation as the newest Prince of Punk continues to thrive. Recent comparisons in the European Press have been made to Iggy Pop and Kurt Cobain but with a Straightedge twist. His stage presence and live energy has been described as “all five of The Hives trapped in a lipstick-smeared Pete Townsend”. And now they are bringing their unique brand of rock ‘n’ roll to NYC with a one weekend run at UNDER St. marks The rest of the world has already experienced Die Roten Punkte - now you can too. |
