Lovingly inspired by/ripped off from Dawn of the Dead, The Evil Dead and Shaun of the Dead, Dysfunctional Theatre presents Brew of the Dead, a new black comedy, that asks the eternal question: When the Apocalypse comes, will there be beer?

The Dysfunctional Theatre Company: Brew of the Dead is Dysfunctional Theatre's 30th production.  Other recent productions include: Chosen(by Rick Vorndran), The 8: Reindeer Monologues (by Jeff Goode), Bite (by Suzanne Bachner) and Hoover: A Love Story (by Paul Wells).  Founded in 1997 & currently celebrating its 10th Anniversary Season, Dysfunctional is dedicated to challenging the status quo without taking itself too seriously.

The Cast and Crew

Eric Chase* (Matt) is happy to be back with Dysfunctional Theater Company, after about a 10 year hiatus. Eric is a member of Bakerloo Theatre Project, Emerging Artists Theater company, and other regional and local companies (including Theatre Rats with co-actor Peter Schuyler). Thanks to his lovely wife.

Tom O’Connor (Derek) was born in Brooklyn in the latter part of the 20th Century, which seemed like a good idea at the time.  He has appeared in numerous off-off broadway productions, and performed original monologues as an opening act for Brother Theodore for 15 years.  He is the only person he knows who has been on Law & Order only once.  In a review of one of his monologues for the New York Times, Jennifer Dunning called him “disturbing to the point of being repulsive.”  He never had a chance to thank her.  Tom is glad to be running with this particular band of zombie-hunters, and can’t wait to be standing over a steaming pile of the undead, crowbar in one hand, tasty beverage in the other.  This one’s for you, Helen.

Amy Overman (Kim) has been performing & producing with Dysfunctional since 2001.  She appeared in the Dysfunctional productions: The Eight: Reindeer Monologues (Comet 2007, Dancer 2006, Vixen 2005), Bite (Millie), Please Please Please Love Me (Linda), Whispers in the Wood (Lucy), Real Live Sex Onstage (Maggie), I Am Star Trek (Paramount) and How to Have the Ultimate Orgasm Each and Every Time (The Redhead). Other NYC credits include: Clue - Live Onstage (Miss Scarlet) for Flying Blind Productions, several staged readings with W-WOW Radio and the touring children's show, On the Road to Reading, in which she played a singing pig and a dancing book. Amy has a BFA in Acting from Syracuse University.

Peter Schuyler (Craig) is an actor, singer, producer, director, and writer working in NY’s indie theatre scene since 2001. He has worked with numerous companies in his tenure, including (but not limited to): La MaMa ETC, Immediate Theatre Company, The Tank, , 3Graces, and Bouncing Ball Theatre in DC. Peter played the titular role in Titus X, Shawn Northrip’s punk rock musical version of Shakespeare’s bloodiest tragedy from 2004 to 2007, and played Strom Thurmond’s father in Thomas Bradshaw’s Strom Thurmond is Not a Racist (both were NYIT award nominees). This is Peter’s fourth show with Dysfunctional Theatre, and his first playing something other than a deranged reindeer.  Earlier this year he directed Mastiphicus Meglodon at UNDER St Marks, his directing debut. A graduate of Northern Arizona University, he’s proud to be a new company member of Dysfunctional Theatre.
