The LAB @ Horse Trade is a workshop and reading series created to provide a forum to help develop works by new and experienced playwrights and production groups--with the intent of bringing work in various stages of development directly to a live audience.

Artists draw upon critical feedback from audience and peers to refine and revise in-development projects. Horse Trade extends an open invitation to the community to hear a dynamic mix of work throughout the year.

We started The Lab series in our fourth season in order to continue Horse Trades commitment to present a varied program of performance series, readings, workshops, and fully realized productions. . The program is ever changing and very flexible.

The loose format allows The Lab to nurture all kinds of performances. Our lab has seen standard theatrical performances, musicals, monologues, one acts and even a full size puppet show through their early stages of development.

The Lab was created as a testing ground for our Residents to bounce their newly formed ideas around, and has been subsequently opened up to our Guest Artists.

The LAB @ Horse Trade provides a workshop and reading forum to develop new work.

All Lab Performances are labeled such on our calendar and are open to the public.
