Do we ever really grow up?
How do the events of our childhood shape our sexual identities?
How does the past color our present and future?

"Real Live Sex On Stage"
reminds us of the magic and the horror that is childhood.

This new comic drama tells the story of 6 men and women in their twenties (both gay & straight) who share the memory of a tragic event from their childhood that forever altered their view of sex & sexuality. As the twentieth ãanniversaryä of the event approaches, memories begin to surface in the form of nightmares. They decide to honor a pact they made to reunite twenty years later---and let go of the past that controls them. In the process, they uncover hidden truths about themselves and each other, often with hilarious results.

Mike, a gay performance artist who bares all in his work, struggles with intimacy (and his boyfriend, Lance), as does Maggie--a lesbian porn queen who finds it difficult to see sex as an expression of love. Shelley, a sitcom star, battles low self-esteem--while Mark works at a strip club and channels his anger at women and his abusive father into lonely, drunken binges.

STARRING:
Kevin T. Collins, Michael Earle, Renee Erikson-Farr, Stephen Holliday, Jessica Laulhere, Amy Overman, Amy Rush, and Sebastian Sosnowski.

The Dysfunctional Theatre Company.. Founded in 1997 by its current Artistic Director, Paul Wells, Dysfunctional is a collective dedicated to light-hearted yet political work that challenged the status quo without taking itself too seriously. In 2001, Dysfunctional presented two light-hearted comedies÷ãVampire Stewardesses From Hellä by Paul Wells, and ãHow to Have the Ultimate Orgasm Each and Every Timeä by Rick Vorndran. Vorndranâs ãtotally unauthorized biographyä of Gene Roddenberry, "I Am Star Trek," was part of Horse Trade Theater Group's October 2001 SF ÷The Sci-Fi Event, and had its run extended through November 25. A London production of "Trek" is currently playing.

PAUL WELLS (Playwright/Director and Artistic Director) has written over 30 plays.
