Submission Guide |
This list of questions is designed to help us understand precisely what your production Plan is, as well as help you be prepared for all that is involved in producing with Horse Trade.
In Addition to this list we would like to see a script, video, or Concept, of what it is you are attempting to put on our stage.
1) Have you produced this work before? If so, how did it go? Where did you do it? Did you get any press coverage? Do you have a tape? And any other information you can give us about the previous production?
2) Would you like to workshop the production for a time, before going full steam on a full run?
3) Of our three spaces (The Kraine Theater, The Red Room, and UNDER St. Marks) which would be your first and second choice to perform in? You will need a certain measure of experience in order to be considered for in The Kraine Theater.
4) Have you been involved in the production of a show in New York in the past? If so, In what capacity? Please do not exaggerate you production experience. A lack of experience only means you will get more help and advice on the things you need to watch out for. We will not reject your proposal for lack of experience!
5) What is your marketing program? Who is your audience? And most important, how do you plan to reach them?
6) Do you have a publicist? (If so, add that to your budget). If you do not, then who in your company is to be in charge of Publicity? This is a very big JOB; you should try to have someone who is not a performer and is responsible for very little else.
7) How many performances would you like to do and over how long or short a period?
8) Are you looking for specific dates, or times? If so what are they and how flexible are those dates and times?
9) What is your total Budget and how do you plan to use it?
If this sum includes a fundraising effort, then we would need to see writen plans for such effort, we may have resources that could help you. Here is a shorthand form with all the basic expenses you will encounter: Do not feel as though you need to spend money on each one of these categories. If you do choose to eliminate anything, please explain how you plan to delegate that responsibility. All of these categories have some sort of budget in an ideal production, we are however, well aware of the fact that very few companies have the budget to allow for ideal conditions.
