Abducted and forced to share a body, three men, two women, and an alien learn the true meaning of the word "togetherness." From the characters' struggle for survival, a story emerges of secret government programs, a crashed UFO, and alien reproductive experiments. With this production of his one-man play Abducted!, Belfiore reprises his critically acclaimed New York Fringe Festival performance. In it, he combines a close examination of the alien abduction phenomenon with character-driven storytelling and improvisation for a 60-minute theatrical tour de force. "I wanted to come up with a compelling story reason why multiple characters had to inhabit a single body," says Belfiore. "This bizarre convention of solo theater is usually taken for granted. Not this time." Michael Belfiore is a published science fiction writer and has studied acting at NYU's Experimental Theater Wing and the Lee Strasberg Theatre Institute. Abducted! has played in two New York productions, and one in Madison, Wisconsin. A German-language production played in Munster, Germany earlier this year. |
