Horse Trade presents
A Horse Trade production of

DONNIE AND THE MONSTERS

WRITTEN BY ROBERT J. GIBBS
DIRECTED BY HEIDI G. GRUMELOT

Donnie and the Monsters, the new “sock puppet play for grown-ups” at Horse Trade Theater Group’s Under St. Marks space is the top show of the week, based on number of “hits” from nytheatre.com readers.
Check out Hannah Gold’s rave review
.

Donnie isn’t good at gym class, making friends, or avoiding bullies. To cope with pre-teen life changes and loneliness his imagination runs wild with monsters, pirates, and talking toilets. A sock puppet play for adults, Donnie and the Monsters deals with the issues we develop during childhood and then cling to or hide from when we grow up.

Hannah Weddle is a May 2010 graduate from NYU-Tisch Film School.  She focused on sound and animation while at school, but her secret love is working in the theater!  Hannah grew up in Brunswick, Maine where she spent every summer watching every show at Maine State Music Theater.  She then started working and acting at The Theater Project (also in Brunswick) while in high school.  Fresh back to the United States, Hannah's most recent project was recording sound for the documentary film Glasnost Coda: Singing in Siberia, where filming took place over three weeks in Moscow and the Eastern Siberia region of Russia.  Thanks to the great ones at Horse Trade for the opportunity to work on this show (!), and many thanks to my family for everything.
Ariel Schecter was a technical intern for Horse Trade this summer. He is wrapping up his final semester of college at Brown University, where he studies a mix of structural engineering and mixed media sculpture. But while training is good, there’s nothing like the thrill of the application of the craft. Yury Lomakin is very happy to have the opportunity to bring Donnie and the Monsters to life for you today.
