"...exuberantly presented…the vicarious fun of small-venue performance hit the mark."
Jonathan Reuning, United Stages

Horse Trade is proud to support the promising newFangled theatReR in the further development and extension of Mac Wellman's Harm's Way out of the first ever FRIGID Festival.

Of this production, Ross Chapell of nytheatre.com exclaimed, "It's refreshing to see performers this outstanding directed so well...creative... interesting... near perfection...The performances aren't just good, they are stunning…this production brings out the best in his play."

Harm’s Way is a dark comedy that explores themes of Anger through the footfalls of Santouche, an anti-hero that embarks on a fantastical journey after committing an impulsive act of violence. Set against a Mid-Western landscape cluttered with circus imagery, Christian motifs and a cast of sideshow personalities, this apocalyptic tale is told by a troupe of gypsy-vagabonds. Audience members will take part in a spectacle of language and imagery as the nFt gypsies celebrate life through their art—playing music with unlikely instruments and creating pictures with fabric and found objects.

newFangled theatReR is an ever-evolving ensemble theatre company dedicated to the production of affordable, audience-centric and provocative theatrical events. The work is focused on the development of a unique style and approach to the art of storytelling through heightened physicality and poetic language.
